A robot is a computer controlled system that performs manual, physical tasks. Robots can be autonomous, using artificial intelligence or computational intelligence techniques to navigate their environment and perform their jobs, or they can be remotely controlled by a human operation. A robot alos can be difine as a mechanical or virtual intelligent agent that can perform tasks automatically or with guidance, typically be remote control.

The word robot was first introduced by Czech interwae writer in his play R.U.R.

Robots are primarily used for three types of physical jobs:

Dangerous jobs- such as cleaning up nuclear waste or performing bomb disposal

Boring or repretitive jobs- such as manufacturing jobs in factories or on prodution line

Exploring inaccessible environments -  such as the extreme ocean depths or the surfaces of other planets, whihc are difficult or impossible for humans to access

Robotics:

What is Robot?

An Android is a robot designed to look and act like a human being. This term usually refers to the male gander, with the female being refered to as "Gynoid" (pron. "Djeye"Noid")

The word "Android" was first used in Ephraim Chambers' Cyclopaedia (1728), with reference to an automaton that St. Albertus Magnus allegedly created.

Cyborg

A cyborg is a being with both bioloical and artificial parts (mechanical, electronic or robotic.)

'Cyborg' was first used in 1960 by Manfred Clynes and Nathan. S. Kline in an article arguing the advantages 'of self-reulating human-machine systems in outer space."

In art, the idea of cyborgs is often associated with science fiction. Many artists attempt to raise the awareness of cybernetics. A man named Neil Harbisson claims to be a cyborg.

Types of ROBOTS

There are many different application of robots such as:

1. Leisure

2. Manufacturing

3. Medicine

4. Military

Leisure Robots

Leisure robots are commonly used among households and are used for fun, rather than difficult working tasks.

Common examples of these robots are toys such as the Pleo, which is a dinosaur robot that aims to act as a pet.

Manufacturing Robots

Manufacturing robot is a mechanical device that uses automation to transform raw materials into finished goods for sale.

Medicine:

Robots can be used by surgeons to perform centain surgeries on patients half-way around the world.

The da Vinci Surgical System is an example of a teleoperational computer.

Military Robots

Military Robots are autonomous robots and remote controlled devices designed to aid the ilitary.

The first robot used in the military dates back to the Second World War.

There are many projects involving the creation and development of androids. An example is HRP-4C. This is a female humanoid robot that was created by a Japanese research group called the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology. HRP-4C uses Vocaloid to be able to sing

He has a condition that only lets him see in black and white. Because of this, Harbisson started on the eyeborg project. The eyeborg works with a camera that is mounted on his head. It picks up colours directly in front of him and converts them in real-time into sound waves.

In medicine there are two types of cyborgs: the restoratives and the enhanced. Restorative technology works to restore lost functions of organs and limbs. They don't enhance their abilities. The enhanced cyborg intends to exceed normal processes or even gain new functions that were not originally present.

In the military, organization utilise cyborg animals for the purpose of a supposed tactial advantage: For more information click this link below
